birthday girl

alternate titles for this post:

a)  have way too many craft supplies.

b) have way too much time on my hands.

c) am a crazy dog lady.

d) all of the above

guilty. 😉

In my defense…the high today is 16 degrees.

Leaving the house? Not gonna happen.

Staying inside making a birthday hat and having a photo shoot sounded like waaaaaayyyy more fun. 🙂

Back to the birthday girl…

Today my best friend on four legs turns 3. Well technically, 21 in doggie years. But shhhhh….don’t tell her. She doesn’t know she’s a dog. 😉

It seems like only yesterday that we brought this little ball of fuzz home.

It didn’t take long before she stole our hearts.

Riley is the best dog. She wants nothing more than to please and to be loved on. And to chase tennis balls. Endlessly.

When we come downstairs each morning, she greets us at the bottom step with her blanket in her mouth, whimpering and wagging her tail 90 to nothing.

It’s like the seven or so hours without us were just too much to bear. 🙂

When I’m at the computer, she comes up beside me and nudges her head under my arm over and over until I rub her head and ears. Then she plops down beside me and is never more than two feet away from me at any given time.

She’s a loyal companion and a faithful friend.

So today we are celebrating with extra ear rubs and indoor playtime. 😉

And probably an extra rawhide or two.

Of course, we don’t want to get carried away with the celebrating…

Have a beautiful day, friends.

She’s winking in the last photo, did you teach her to do that? 🙂 I missed seeing Riley, and I still think she should have a monthly feature post! How ‘about Craft Corner With Riley?

We had 16 degrees here yesterday and now today, snow squall warnings, could see up to 20 cm in snow squall areas and temps falling to -10 by tonight…summer yesterday…winter today!

Happy Birthday, Riley! She is a pretty girl. We finally caved and bought a dog for our boys two + years ago. My husband and I had no desire to ever own a dog. Both of us were nervous around dogs too. Now we can’t imagine not having Remington. She is such a smart and loving dog, so much a part of our family.

OH my stars I’m in love. Your Riley is so adorable and that sweet face. She still has a face of a younger dog, like she could never do anything naughty. Did you make her stunning hat? So cute with the streamer on it, exquisite.
Our black lab/border collie looks like a big boy now, (4 yrs.) no more young face. We got him at a 1yr. old.
To me it’s so incredible how much we can love our dogs. It is like loving a child. I’ve had 4 children and I wonder how I could love a dog so much. I think our Tommy would fall in love with your little girl.

What a coincidence – my little guy, Hubble, turned 3 yesterday as well! I stopped short of the hat, but we had a grand day! First it was off to McDonalds so he could get a birthday cookie treat, then to visit the quilting girls and finally to PetSmart for his favorite toy in the world, the balls! I woke him up quietly, telling him about the day he was born, we opened his “other gifts” after dinner with his daddy, and all in all, the day was given over to celebrating him. Not spoiled at all. Right. Riley is adorable and it’s clear to see she is well loved!

I have two four-legged children. They are such an addition to our family. They are so faithful and comforting. It’s nice to celebrate their lives because they give us so much pleasure. Happy birthday Riley!

I also love it when you include stories and pictures of Ms. Riley in your posts. Happy Birthday beautiful girl. What a great idea to put her age front and center on her party hat. Seems easy to remember what she looks like today, but ten years from now, …not so much. Enjoy every minute with her.

Happy Birthday, Riley! She is gorgeous. We have 2 Goldens (ages 7 and 2). Goldens are the BEST dogs ever!

Aww…what a pretty baby dog!! I hope she has an awesome birthday!

And how patient of her, to wear her birthday hat long enough to have her picture made. My girls would have run off at the first sight of any hat type object directed towards their little heads.

Will, our Golden Boy is also kind, gentle and wants nothing more than to please. Every morning we are greeted with him holding socks in his mouth. We now leave them on the floor at night so he has them in the morning so he can impress us… Geez! Easy to be so in love with dogs like ours. Love the birthday hat. She’s got it going on!

I would say, d, all of the above. I’m a crazy dog lady too. She’s beautiful.
