cedar chest makeover

I’ve been working on a bedroom makeover for the past week. I just redid our bedroom back in December. And I liked it for all of five minutes. Maybe.

I scored some great thrifty furniture last week and I’ve been working on the pieces to add to our bedroom.

So I’ll show you a different piece each day this week and then the whole bedroom reveal on Friday! How’s that for a plan? I have to say I usually just fly by the seat of my pants with blog posts, so it’s nice to actually have a plan!

First up is this art deco cedar chest. I’ve wanted one for the foot of our bed for the longest time. I scored for fifty dollars on kijiji. It was in good shape but needed a facelift. Sorry for the crummy photo, I snapped it with my phone.

I painted it in Light French Gray by Behr. My new favorite paint color. LOVE IT.

I lightly sanded the details to bring them out and added glass pulls. It looks perfect at the foot of our bed!

Tomorrow’s post? Gaw-geous french arm chairs. You’re gonna love ’em.

Happy Monday, peeps.

Very cool update – the sanding really accents the features nicely.

Very nice! You are right, that is a beautiful colour.

I get the 5 minutes of liking something before it’s got to go 🙂

Lol! I thought I was the only one that loves changing room decor every few weeks.
I used to move furniture a round the rooms weekly. Now I “rearrange” furniture.I literally used to carry my television around the room trying to decide the best spot for it!
In the last year I have had 8 bedspreads. Love lots of color at times and then want to calm the room down with soft colors. In my opinion I am always “improving” the room,so I don’t see any end to it! Thanks for ypur blog. I think your chest looks great

Love it! I just scored a similar cedar chest for $10 at a garage sale that is not in best of condition. Lots of chips in her veneer, poor girl is really showing her age. The light french gray may be my new fav color too. Excellent job on this chest.
