I know, it sounds like an oxymoron. But just wait.
I picked up some mounted antlers yesterday at Tattered Tiques.
They were a little on the rough side…perfect candidate for a makeover. My plan was to cover the middle piece with fabric and maybe paint the plaque. But Nancy suggested covering the plaque part in fabric. Genius!
So I unscrewed the antler section from the plaque and painted it in French Linen chalk paint.
And covered the plaque with a very thin linen…I think bulky fabric would be difficult. I just pulled the fabric tight and hot glued it on the backside.
Then after some third degree glue gun burns (I never learn) I reattached the antlers and VOILA…
Pretty antlers! Told ya.
I hung them in the guest cottage bathroom, which is getting a makeover.
I love the way they look against the beadboard.
It felt great to play with paint and fabric again…after a nice long break I feel my mojo slowly returning!
Hope you are having a wonderful weekend.

Oh Susan love these. I love the transformation. Adorable and perfect where you have them. I have to say I love that mirror and shelf in there too. All goes so well together. You certainly are getting your mojo back those antlers are great. Love them.

Thanks, Kris!
Oh my gosh, they look awesome!! You work fast! We may have to do this with the rest of the sets at the shop….they look so much better this way.

C)You said Road Trip, it perked up immediately and though I could…
D)Stay in Susan’s guest cottage and stalk her closer than Ohio!!!
LOL, if I told my bestie about your suggestion, she would have us both packed and the car gassed and ready to go. Someday, hopefully sooner than later
A. I’m always here to enable. B. haha…me too. I sing it in my head as I’m glueing. C and D. Once the cottage makeover is finished, you are welcome anytime.

Thanks friend.
Did you stain the sheds too? looks good
Believe it or not, I didn’t touch them…they just look prettier against the lighter colors!
Tres chic! I just noticed that you have the same sconce we installed on the beadboard walls in the 207 year old house we moved from last year. You know what they say about great minds…
It was here when we moved in but I love it!
Have you recovered from the wedding yet?
“Pretty” and “antlers” absolutely DO go together. You just proved it.
Love the makeover. Hope you had a great weekend.
I saw some fabulous looking antlers covered in cheery fabric, eeeoonns ago on etsy. It was long before Pinterest, but I think I saved an image somewhere on my computer because I thought it was so clever. They would be so cute to hang necklaces.
Susan, Loved your teachers story and the antlers are more terrific after you put your touch on them.
Hope your Christmas was a blast ,as expected.
Michiyo and I have really been missing you, hope you can find time and incentive to post
some more fun stuff on your BLOG.
