The beauty of cleaning out my basement, (besides gathering tons of stuff for the possible garage sale) has been finding things that I forgot I had.
My very favorite projects involve rescuing a piece of furniture from my garage or basement and giving it new life by changing the paint or fabric.
This ottoman was in our family room in Canada. I’m so done with this fabric and have been saving it to reupholster.
I thought it might make a nice addition to the sitting area in our kitchen.
I really wanted a kilim rug look, similar to these pillow covers from Pottery Barn.
But the ottoman is huge and I’m cheap. So I went to Hobby Lobby and found this…
In the back of my mind Tim Gunn was saying…”Make it work!”
I’m no professional (and totally understand why upholsterers charge BIG bucks)…but I’m really pleased with how it turned out!
A nice punch of color and pattern in this neutral space.
My latest piece of hotelware from Redeemed Vintage. love.
Next up for the kitchen? Window treatments of some sort. Once I find a fabric I LOVE.
Paint. Once I can commit to a color. This is the third green kitchen we’ve had over the years. Time for a change. I want a neutral color (shocking, I know) but nothing has struck my fancy yet.
Grey is so popular these days, but I’ve yet to jump on the band wagon. I think I need KariAnne’s help. KariAnne…any suggestions for me?
New different side chairs. These are too short and look terrible. They were a quick fix when I sold my last set at Pink Geranium. (hi ladies…hope you are having a nice month off…see you in September!)
I put my friend Carol on the case. She’s like the Chair Whisperer. She actually found the perfect ones the other day, but there were only three.
What changes have you been making in your home lately?
I’m all ears.
