when yo flo is a no go

Today I found out the third rule of home renovations.

Expect the unexpected.

We were allllll set to have the cottage floors refinished…

but once the flooring guy took a closer look, it was a no go.

Apparently when the hardwood floors were originally installed, they just kind of attached the wood to the concrete without any subfloor.

So the floors were “springy.” Honestly, I never really noticed…

But then again, we hold the disco parties in the main house. ;)

In addition to no sub-flooring, they were in really bad shape. Like nails sticking up and piercing your feet.

I thought it added to the rustic charm. ;)

So here’s what took place today.

Operation Rip out the flo!

Over the next few days, the new stuff will go in.

It’s getting soooo close to being finished.

Here’s to NO MORE surprises!!! :)

Love the new walls! What a change! Let me know if you are dumping the old floors- i’d be happy to haul them away for my rustic floor project!

Hi Karen, I asked but they said it’s “to the trade only.” Sorry! Have a good day. :)
